Joseph Koensgen is a Canadian artist and naturalist. Even at a young age he had a keen interest in nature and showed artistic talent as he drew and painted the world around him. Being self taught, he started to paint wildlife in acrylics at the age of fifteen. He continued to develop his skill by studying the work of his favourite wildlife painters. In 2008, he moved into painting the realistic nature scenes that are his focus today. His inspiration comes directly from nature and he is often going out with a camera to capture the things he sees. He is predominantly motivated by his passion for conservation and hopes that his paintings will inspire the same those who see his art.
