Shirley Germain is a watercolour artist who grew up in southwestern Manitoba, and now resides in the Interlake. It is here, at Lake Manitoba Narrows, she now draws her inspiration from. For Germain, watercolour is the perfect medium to portray the many moods of Manitoba. She has always been captivated by the beauty of the Aurora Borealis…something she remembers vividly from her years in the north and paints often. However, her subject matter has broadened with several moves around the province, and now enjoys painting lake and prairie landscapes, old machinery and Manitoba birds. She has won numerous awards for her work over the years, and has had several reproduced in the form of limited edition prints, giclees and artcards.
