Looking closely at Valerie’s work you will see small pieces of fabric blended together with stitching to create the appearance of a painting. Her current series of portraits is based on people from vintage black and white photographs. She combines a love of history, and a curiosity about people from the past, to capture character in fabric.
Valerie’s award-winning work has been exhibited across Canada, and internationally. She is the Membership Coordinator for the Fibre Art Network, and Co-rep for Manitoba and Saskatchewan for SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates).
Valerie’s work is in collections across Canada, the U.S. and in New Zealand.
